Under rain-soaked conditions, the Detroit Titans men's soccer team came up short as Butler captured a 3-0 Horizon League victory Tuesday afternoon at the Butler Bowl in Indianapolis.
At the 59:12 mark, BU freshman Jared Isenthal fed a pass to classmateTyler Pollock, who took a hard shot that went through some Detroit defenders into the bottom right corner of the net for the first goal of the contest, and the eventual game-winner.
About seven minutes later, UDM freshman goalkeeper
Brandon Waterstradt (Dearborn Heights, MI/Catholic Central) came out of net to defend against BU freshman Julian Cardona, who ended up getting a shot off as he was to the right of the net about 15 yards out and saw it go past Waterstradt into the left corner. Junior Jacob Capito earned an assist on the Bulldogs' (11-1-1, 4-0-1 HL) second goal of the day.
The final goal was scored with just under five minutes left in the contest as Cardona took a corner kick which went directly to sophomore Matt Hedges, who got his right foot on the ball and took a strong shot to the center of the net.
Waterstradt was in net the entire 90 minutes and tallied one save, and senior netminder Fabian Knopfler collected six saves after playing the entire contest for the Bulldogs to earn the win.

Ken Simon (Brighton, MI/Brighton) collected a team-high four shots, while sophomores
Nate Robinson (Novi, MI/Novi) and
Sam Seppo (Port Huron, MI/Port Huron) each tallied two shots on the afternoon.
Butler had a slight advantage in shots, 11-9, and the Bulldogs collected 10 corner kicks to UDM's four.
The Titans (3-11-1, 1-5-0) will return to action when they host Loyola at noon on Halloween.
