Titans Tie IPFW 3-3

Box Score

DETROIT -- The men's soccer team faced the IPFW Mastodons on Sunday afternoon in non-league action at Titan Field. After two overtimes the game remained tied at 3-3. Detroit now holds an overall record of 6-6-2.

It didn't take long for the Titans to get on the scoreboard on Sunday, as Ya Ya Toure (Ypsilanti, Mich./Willow Run) connected on a header goal just 29 seconds into the game. Mike Chiandussi (Windsor, ON/St. Thomas of Villanova) crossed the ball to Toure in the middle of the field to earn the assist. Toure leads the team with seven goals this season.

The first half ended with Detroit hanging onto the one goal advantage, but things changed quickly as IPFW struck with their first goal of the game in the 47th minute of play. Jorge Ramirez scored his second goal of the season against the Titans off the assist from Cory Keitz.

Keitz helped the Mastodons take the lead six minutes later as he set up teammate Andy Masteller with a shot from the left side of the field that found the right corner of the net.

The second half was full of action as Kevin Pinkos (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) came up with a big goal to tie the game at 2-2. Pinkos scored his third goal of the year off a great throw in from Adam Bedell (Livonia, Mich./Churchill).

IPFW would not back down as they regained the lead less than 10 minutes later off a goal from Max Touloute. Touloute leads the Mastodons with eight goals on the year. He was assisted by Ramirez.

With time running low in the second half the Titans made some moves to create offensive pressure against the Mastodons. Bedell took advantage of yet another throw in opportunity to help tie the game at the 84 minute mark as he found Sam Seppo (Port Huron, Mich./Port Huron) for the game-tying goal. Bedell launched the ball to the middle of the field, and Seppo connected with a header from eight yards out to tie the game at 3-3. Seppo now has five goals on the year, and Bedell tallied his team-high seventh assist of the season.

Brandon Waterstradt (Dearborn Heights, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) played well as the goalkeeper for the Titans. Waterstradt came up with eight saves against IPFW.
