Two second half goals helped the College of Charleston pick up their first win of the season Sunday afternoon against Detroit in the Furman Invitational.
Francis Twohig scored two goals for the College of Charleston (1-2-1). Twohig scored the first goal of the game off a corner kick in the 32nd minute of action. His second goal gave the College of Charleston a 2-0 lead early in the second half. Twohig beat the keeper with a 26-yard strike from the right side.
Junior
Ya Ya Toure (Ypsilanti, MI/Willow Run) notched his third goal of the year for Detroit (0-3-1) in the second half to cut into the Cougars lead. Toure worked up the left side of the field to score the unassisted goal. Sean Bateau gave the Cougars an insurance goal a minute later off a penalty kick.
Sophomore
Martin Robertson (Newmarket, ON/St. Andrew's College) was the keeper for Detroit, ending the game with five saves.
Detroit returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 15th, with a home match against Bowling Green at 4:00 p.m.
