DETROIT -- The men's soccer team will face the UIC Flames on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 2:00 p.m. This contest marks the second to last home game of the season as senior day has been set for Saturday, Oct. 29 against the Butler Bulldogs.
About Detroit
The Titans are still searching for their first league win of the season as the Flames come to town. Detroit is 4-8-1 overall with a HL mark of 0-3-1. They most recently faced the Oakland Golden Grizzlies on Wednesday, Oct. 19. Oakland connected on two goals in the first half and added another early in the second defeating Detroit 3-1.
Moustafa Bazzi scored the lone goal of the game for the Titans. Bazzi was able to get behind the Oakland defense after he received a pass from
Adam Bedell who ended up with an assist on the goal.
Bedell now leads the team with 10 points on the year. He has three goals to go with his team-high four assists.
Pat Lepera is right behind Bedell with nine points. Lepera has three goals and three assists in 2011. Detroit's top goal scorer has been
Otieno Victor. Victor has four goals on the year, giving him eight points.
Anthony Shepherd has played well as Detroit's goalkeeper. The sophomore has faced 257 shots from the opposing team this year (12 games). He leads the Horizon League with 64 saves and he was also the starter in the 1-0 shutout overtime win over Michigan State. Shepherd holds a goals against average of 1.67 and posts a save percentage of .753.
Scouting UIC
The Flames have two of the top players in the Horizon League. Ivan Stanisavljevic and Eric Frazier lead the league in many statistical categories. Stanisavljevic is the league leader in points with 21, while Frazier is in second with 16. The duo also ranks one-two in goals with 8 and 7 respectively.
The Flames have a solid goalkeeper in Piotr Kikolski. Kikolski is fifth in the Horizon League with 45 saves. Kikolski has played in every game for UIC and has recorded two shutout victories. He holds a goals against average of 1.23 and a save percentage of .726.

All-Time Series
The Titans and the Flames are deadlocked in the all-time series at 8-8-3. Detroit has come out on top in the last two meetings with a 3-2 road win a year ago and a 4-2 victory at Titan Field in 2009.

Victor Moves Up Career Goal Ranks
Otieno Victor has four goals on the season pushing his career total to 19. He is now in a three-way tie for 11th place all-time. His 46 career points have also moved him into 13th place all-time in that category.
Bedell Climbs All-Time Assist Record
Sophomore
Adam Bedell now has 12 career assists placing him in a six way tie for 16
th all-time. Bedell recorded eight assists as a freshman and currently has four in 2011. Joining Bedell with 12 career assists are former Titans Jason Alexander, Marcel Flemming, Michael Giese, Pete Tangalos, and Dominic Vella.
NCAA Ranks
Anthony Shepherd is ranked 21st nationally in saves per game (5.27). He is also tied with George Ellis of Manhattan for 30th overall in total saves with 58. The Titans are currently tied for 14th in the nation in saves per game (5.67). Florida Atlantic holds the same mark.

Sophomore
Anthony Shepherd leads the Horizon League in saves with 64. Brad Stuver of Cleveland State is in second with 56, while Ryan Wehking of Green Bay rounds out the top three with 50.
Overtime Blues
The Titans have played in several close games during the 2011 season. Through the first 13 contests, six have entered overtime. Detroit's overall record in overtime games is 1-4-1. They defeated Michigan State on opening weekend with a penalty kick goal, and they were able to tie Milwaukee 2-2 back on Oct. 8.
The Buffalo Bulls escaped Titan Field with a 1-0 win in double overtime, and Wright State defeated Detroit in the Horizon League home opener 2-1 in overtime. The overtime jinx was extended at Valparaiso as the Crusaders were able to put away Detroit 3-2 and the most recent overtime loss came at Loyola as the Ramblers upset Detroit 1-0 in double overtime on Oct. 15.

Detroit will play on the road against Green Bay on Wednesday, Oct. 26 for a night game against the Phoenix starting at 8:00 p.m. The Titans will then return to campus for senior day as Detroit faces Butler on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 2:00 p.m.
