DETROIT -- The men's soccer team was defeated by the Butler Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon by the final score of 3-1. The Titans are now 1-5-1 in the Horizon League with an overall mark of 5-10-1.
Butler scored two goals in the first half and added one in the second to claim a 3-1 win over Detroit. The Titans were able to jump onto the scoreboard after a successful penalty kick from senior
Nate Robinson.
Austin Oldham scored an unassisted goal early in the first half to give Butler the lead, and he was credited with an assist on the second goal giving the Bulldogs a 2-0 edge. Chad Rigg came up with his first goal of the season off the Oldham assist.
In the second half it was Zach Steinberger who increased the Butler lead to 3-0. Steinberger was assisted on the goal by JC Aikenhead.
Nate Robinson scored his second goal of the season against the Bulldogs. Robinson was active all afternoon as he led the team with four shots on goal.
Jon Dawson picked up the win as the Butler goalkeeper. Dawson made six saves on Saturday.
Anthony Shepherd was hit with the loss. He made one save against Butler.
Detroit will return to action with a game on Nov. 1 at IPFW. The season finale will be against the Cleveland State Viking on Nov. 4.
