MUNCIE, Ind. (12/6/2012) -- Sophomore Shareta Brown collected her fourth double-double of the year and the Titans fought back from a 10-point second-half deficit to bring it to overtime, but they could not pull off the comeback dropping a 73-64 decision at Ball State on Thursday.

Brown finished with 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds hitting 8-of-9 shots from the field, including her first collegiate 3-pointer. She also had two blocks. Senior Demeisha Fambro had 15 points while sophomore Audrey Matteson totaled 12 points, seven boards, three assists, and three steals.

Detroit (4-4) got behind by 10, 39-29, with 14:25 left in the game when it started to chip away at the lead with six-straight points. Fambro started it with a three and then senior Yar Shayok got a layup. Fambro then split a pair of free throws to pull UDM within four, 39-35, at the 12:26 mark

After a Ball State (3-6) trey, the Titans responded with a 9-0 run by hitting three-straight 3-pointers to take the lead. Fambro started that too and that was followed by junior Megan Hatter's back-to-back threes to give Detroit a 44-42 advantage with 8:12 remaining.

The Cardinals regained the lead at 46-44, but the red, white and blue responded with a 13-3 spurt over six minutes to jump out in front by eight, 57-49, with only 1:25 left in the contest. It appeared the Titans were going to earn the road win, but BSU scored the final eight points in regulation to force the extra session.

In the overtime, Ball State outscored UDM, 16-7. The score was twice tied, first at 59 and then at 62-62 – the latter on a three by Matteson – but the Cardinals finished the last 2:33 of the period on an 11-2 run.

Shayok finished the game with four points and nine rebounds, while Hatter added eight points and four boards. Freshman Rosanna Reynolds collected six points, six rebounds, and three assists, one of four Titans on the day with three helpers.

The Titans shot 36.9% for the game hitting 34-of-65 from the field, but were just 8-of-31 from behind the arc, setting a new school record for most three-point attempts. UDM did outrebound the Cardinals, 44-39.

It was a battle in the first half as both teams were playing shorthanded with eight in uniform for the Titans and seven for Ball State.

The first half featured six lead changes and three ties as both teams struggled on offense shooting less than 40% from the field. The Cardinals were able to keep the Titans on the outside as 14 of their 31 first-half shots were from beyond the arc, with Detroit connecting on two.

The game began with both teams exchanging treys and then a three by Brown gave UDM a 6-3 advantage. The Titans would increase its lead to as many as five, 12-7, as Hatter got inside for a layup at the 13:44 mark.

The Cardinals fought back to tie the score at 14-14with 8:58 left in the first. Each team then traded the lead for the next few minutes before BSU ran it to five, 28-23, and took a 28-25 lead at the break.

Up next for Detroit will be Lourdes (Ohio) on Monday in a game that is part of a doubleheader with the men's basketball team. The women will tip-off at 5:00 p.m., with the men to square off against Alabama State at 7:30.

In honor of all the student's favorite time of the year – FINALS WEEK – the first 100 UDM students will receive some great study supplies and snacks, including note cards, pens, pencils, highlighters, Oreos, chips, Twizzlers and Powerade. Qdoba will also provide a pre-game meal to the students.
