Fans, PARTY with the Titans on Sunday at Calihan Hall. The Athletic Department is hosting a watch party for the women's game in the Titan Club at 1pm. Detroit will also have a home women's lacrosse game that starts at noon and then there is the men's basketball NCAA selection show party later in the day.

GREEN BAY, Wisc. --The Titans are just one win away from the NCAA Tournament as the second-seeded Detroit women's basketball team defeated #3 Wright State, 78-70, on Friday evening at the Kress Events Center on the campus of Green Bay.

The Titans advance to their sixth Horizon League Championship and the first since 2004. Detroit captured the 1997 Horizon League title for its only NCAA Tournament appearance and that was when senior Autumn Rademacher was a star guard in the Motor City. UDM has also finished runner-up four times, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004).

UDM will face the winner of top-seeded #10/10 Green Bay and the fourth seed UIC Flames, in the second Horizon League Semifinals, with that contest to tip-off at 8:30 p.m. (EST). The Horizon League Championship is set for Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (EST) and will be televised live by ESPNU.

Freshman Shareta Brown (Pontiac, MI/Grand Blanc) poured in a game-high 30 points – including 19 in the second half. It was her second career 30-point game and just one away from her career high. The Co-Horizon League Newcomer of the Year was 10-of-15 from the field and 10-of-12 from the free throw line, while grabbing eight rebounds and handing out four assists – all in just 27 minutes.

Senior Jalesa Jones (Detroit, MI/Pershing) tallied 13 points, a team-high five assists and three rebounds. Sophomore Senee Shearer (Detroit, MI/Pershing) and junior Chanahl Putnam (Almont, MI/Almont) added 10 points apiece, while sophomore Megan Hatter (Howell, MI/Howell) nearly recorded her first career double-double ending with nine points and tying her career-best with nine rebounds.

The Titans shot 49.1% from the field, including 53.6% in the second half, where they hit 15-of-28.

The Titan defense limited Wright State to 38.7% shooting, and won the battle in the paint with a 34-20 advantage.

It was a tough game from the very start with each team hustling back and fighting on every possession. UDM trailed by one, 16-15, at the 11:15 mark when the Titans took the lead with nine-straight points, which included 3-pointers from Shearer and Putnam.

Wright State got within one at 27-26 with 4:54 left when junior Yar Shayok (Ottawa, ON/Hillcrest) hit an open jumper and Hatter nailed a three. After a pair of WSU free throws, Shearer ended the half with her second try of the game and UDM led, 35-28.

A 3-pointer by Hatter started things in the second and gave UDM its first double-digit lead, 38-28. Both teams then traded baskets, but Brown's layup at the 17:42 mark put the Titans back up by 10 and the red, white and blue would never let the lead slip under double-digits until Wright State hit a couple of treys with less than a minute remaining.

The Titans continued to feed Brown inside and with her causing havoc in the paint, Detroit opened up a lead as high as a 16-points on three occasions, the latest at 75-59 with 1:21 left. The Raiders would hit three 3-pointers down the stretch to cut that in half, but it was too late as the Titans went on to close out the game for the victory.
