Soltys and Bedell Propel Titans to Road Win Over Bowling Green

Box Score

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (9/18/12) -- Patrick Soltys and Adam Bedell both scored goals while Nathan Steinwascher held the Falcons scoreless as the Detroit Titan's men's soccer team defeated Bowling Green, 2-0, Tuesday night at Cochrane Field. It was the third win in four games for Detroit.

In the 15th minute, Trevor Flynn took a shot from the top of the box that was deflected high by the Falcon defense. Kevin Pinkos took the ensuing corner and he found Soltys who headed the ball past the keeper to give UDM an early 1-0 lead and his first goal of the season.

Detroit (4-4) went into the half with a slight edge as the Titans held an 8-6 shot advantage.

Bowling Green (2-3-2) came out in the second half attacking and in the 62nd minute, the Falcons fired a shot on net but Steinwascher made a key save to keep the one-goal lead.  At the 68:19 mark, Steinwascher made a diving save to his right to spoil the Falcons best scoring chance and keep Detroit ahead.

The Titans were awarded another corner in the 86th minute and Pinkos served a ball to Matt Ybarra. Ybarra fired a shot on goal that was saved by the BGSU keeper, but Bedell corralled the rebound and scored his fifth goal in five games to give UDM the insurance marker in the 2-0 victory.

Detroit will be back in action when it hosts Horizon League opponent Cleveland State this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Titan Field.
