Box Score DETROIT (10/28/2014) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 non-conference match Tuesday, falling to visiting Northern Kentucky University in the first meeting between the two schools.
Detroit saw its impressive 16-match unbeaten streak at Titan Field end in the defeat. The Titans (8-7-1) last loss at home prior to Tuesday's was a 2-0 defeat to Milwaukee on Sept. 27, 2012.
Northern Kentucky (8-7-3) scored the lone goal of the game in the 79th minute. NKU's leading scorer Macy Hamblin scored her seventh goal of the season as she lifted a shot from outside the box just over Detroit freshman goalkeeper
Marina Manzo (Washington Township, Mich. / Romeo) and into the back of the net.
The Titans had some good looks at the goal in the second half. Junior defender
Alyssa Lotito (Macomb, Mich. / Eisenhower) had a shot on goal turned away in the 74th minute by NKU goalkeeper Brooke Schocker. In the final minute of the game, sophomore

Sara Zawacki (Dearborn, Mich. / Marian) each had shots blocked in the box.
Detroit was out-shot in the contest, 16-12, and Northern Kentucky also had the advantage in corner kicks, 6-3.

The Titans had recorded 13 shutouts total in its last 16 matches at Titan Field. Detroit had 15 wins in 16 matches with the only tie in that 16-match stretch coming in a 0-0 game against Central Michigan earlier this season.
Detroit, which has already clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Horizon League Championships, concludes the regular season Friday with a 3 p.m. home match against Milwaukee on Senior Day. The Titans will honor their four seniors on the field before the match.
