YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (10/21/15) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team looked poised to continue its series win streak over Youngstown State after scoring the first goal of the game, but the Penguins scored a pair of unanswered goals at the end of the first half and hung on to down the Titans, 2-1, on Wednesday night from Farmers National Bank Field in Horizon League play.

Phylisha Drayton gave the Titans the 1-0 lead in the 16
th minute, gathering a feed in the middle of the box from junior
Anna Mindling before burying the look for her fourth goal of the season.
The hosts roared back with a pair of goals late in the first half. Kyler Lum struck first with a blast from outside the box as a daring shot squeezed through traffic and found the bottom left corner of the net to tie the match at 1-1. The Penguins netted the go-ahead goal in the 41
st minute, with Lum finding the head of Tyesha Kizer in a crowded box off a corner kick.
YSU made the goals stand up despite a frantic finish by the Detroit offense. The Titans generated plenty of scoring chances but could not get the equalizer.
The loss snapped the Titans' 16-game win streak in the all-time series between the teams. The win was Youngstown State's first ever over Detroit.
With the win, Youngstown State improves to 6-10 overall and 1-6 in Horizon League play. Meanwhile, Detroit falls to 6-8-2 overall and 2-4-1 in league action.

Mike Lupenec HOW IT HAPPENED• The Titans wasted no time getting pressure on Youngstown State as
Jennifer Borawski fired a shot off the post in the first 30 seconds of the match.

Tatum Zurawski also registered a chance in the fifth minute, but YSU's Katie Montgomery made the difficult save to keep the tie.
• UDM notched the first five scoring chances and finally went ahead 1-0 on Drayton's goal in the 16
th minute. Mindling sent a long cross in from the left sideline and found Drayton, who buried the feed into the right corner of the net.
• YSU flipped the script and scored on Kyler Lum's long shot outside of the box. The ball snuck through traffic and found the left corner, tying the match at 1-1 in the 23
rd minute.
• In the 34
th minute, Youngstown State swung a low cross into the box and connected on a one-time strike, but
Claudia Eustaquio made an acrobatic dive and touched the ball over the net to keep the game knotted at 1-1.
• Just before halftime, YSU earned a corner kick and took the 2-1 lead on a crowded header from Tyesha Kizer in the 41
st minute.
• Trailing 2-1, Borawski sent a cross into the box and found
Molly Kane, but her shot was deflected straight at goal for an easy save.
• Drayton sprung free in the 65
th minute and nearly the equalizer, but her left-footed shot missed just outside the bottom right corner of the net.
• Borawski broke free for a rip at a volley in the 72
nd minute, but her shot was blocked by the Penguins keeper.
• The Titans made a push at the end, creating three more chances, but were unable to find the equalizer as they fell 2-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE• Each team registered 13 total shots, but Detroit held the edge in shots on goal, 10-5.
• Youngstown State's Katie Montgomery made nine saves to pick up the win.
• YSU held the edge in corners, 7-3.
LEADING THE TITANS• Drayton notched her fourth goal of the season and is now tied for the team lead in goals.

Sara Zawacki, Borawski and Lotito each registered three shots in the match.
• Mindling picked up an assist and is now tied with Lotito for a team-high 11 points.
• Eustaquio made three saves but picked up the loss.
