The Basics

Records: Detroit 0-1, Bradley 1-0
Location: Detroit, Mich. (Calihan Hall)

DETROIT (11/13/2015) -- Junior Haleigh Ristovski (Sterling Heights, Mich. / University Liggett) notched a double-double and pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds, but the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team fell in the season opener against visiting Bradley University, 75-67, at Calihan Hall. The Titans used a 15-4 in the fourth quarter to pull within one point of the Braves, but the Titans ultimately came up short in head coach Bernard Scott's head coaching debut.

Ristovski hit five of Detroit's 12 triples during the contest -- including four in the first half -- and socred 15 points for Detroit. Junior guard Rosanna Reynolds (Canton, Mich. / Divine Child) added a game-high 18 points, seven assists, three blocks and three steals for Detroit (0-1). Sophomore guard Nicole Urbanick (Grosse Ile, Mich. / Divine Child) was the third Titan in double figures as she tallied 13 points.

The contest was back-and-forth during the first half, with the lead changing 10 different times during the opening 20 minutes. Detroit held a 17-16 lead after the first quarter on two-straight triples by Haleigh Ristovski. The junior opened the second quarter with a 3-pointer to give Detroit a 20-16 advantage.

Bradley would score 14 of the next 19 points to take a 30-25 lead with 1:45 left in the half. Ristovski would hit her fourth triple of the half at the 1:24 off an assist by sophomore Brianne Cohen, but the Braves nailed a 3-pointer as the halftime buzzer rang to enter the break with a 35-31 lead.

The Titans trailed by as many as 11 points in the third quarter, but chipped away at the lead in the fourth stanza. Bradley led 58-46 after a lay-up to open the fourth quarter, but Detroit went on a 15-4 run in 6:31 to pull to within one point, 62-61, with 3:05 remaining.

Junior Lizzy Connors (Waukesha, Wis. / Waukesha West) hit a 3-pointer off an assist from Reynolds and followed it up with a lay-up during the run, while Reynolds scored six points, including the lay-up that pulled the Titans to within one point. That was as close as the Titans would get in the contest.

Whitney Tinjum tallied 21 points and 10 rebounds to pace Bradley (1-0).
