DETROIT (2/26/2015) --
Junior Lariah Stevens tallied a season-high 17 points and redshirt sophomore Rosanna Reynolds had 11, but an early-second half run by Wright State was costly as the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team fell, 74-59, on Thursday night at Calihan Hall.

The contest was Detroit's #PinkGame with part of the halftime proceeds going to the American Cancer Socity. The Titans and fans wore pink in support of cancer survivors and to raise awareness for breast cancer. Pink colored balls were also purchased and thrown to center court at halftime and Nadine Rivers, a breast cancer survivor, sang the National Anthem.

Stevens was 7-of-11 from the field and 3-of-4 from three along with three rebounds, three assists and a steal. Reynolds grabbed six rebounds and had four assists and freshman Brianne Cohen added seven points, six boards and a season-best three blocks.

The undermanned Titans (10-16, 5-8 HL) saw Wright State (21-7, 10-4 HL) score the first eight points of the game before freshman Nicole Urbanick hit a three. The Raiders then led by seven points, 12-5, when Reynolds had a three and freshman Chea Taylor got inside for a bucket. After a WSU three, Stevens connected on her first trifecta and then sophomore Haleigh Ristovski put UDM ahead, 16-15, as she drained one from three-point range midway through the period.

Wright State went back in front, but a three from Stevens squared it all at 19-19 at the 9:47 mark. The Raiders then took a seven-point lead twice, the latest at 31-24, when the red, white and blue scored six in a row.

Cohen started it with a layup off a great pass from Reynolds. Reynolds then hit a jumper and the next time down the floor, Seward was able to get to the rim for two and UDM was down by just one, 31-3O, with 2:34 remaining. Urbanick would add a three late in the half and the Titans trailed at the break by just one, 34-33.

Detroit shot 44.8 percent in the first half and hit 7-of-15 from behind the arc. The Titans also limited the high-scoring Raiders' offense to just 34.3 percent shooting, including 4-of-18 (22.2%) from three.

The Titans could not contain the Raiders in the second half as Wright State opened the frame on a 19-3 run for a 53-36 advantage at the 13-minute mark. Detroit got within 12, 57-45, with 10 minutes left as Stevens and Ristovski had back-to-back baskets, but Wright State would hold off any remaining Titan charges and pushed its lead up to 21.

Ristovski finished with six points, six rebounds and four assists. Freshman Darianne Seward had three points, four rebounds and three helpers and Urbanick posted eight points with four caroms.

The Titans will now embark on a three-game road trip to end the regular season starting with Valparaiso on Saturday. Game time is set for 2:35 p.m. (EST) at the ARC.

Game Notes:

Detroit still leads the all-time series, 25-22… Stevens' career high was 10 points against Marygrove in the second game of the year… The Titans had seven 3-pointers at the half… Ellisha Crosby - Detroit's second leading scorer - missed the game due to illness...
