MILWAUKEE, Wis. (3/22/2015) -- Playing in its final non-conference game before the start of the Atlantic Sun schedule on Sunday, the University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team fell 13-5 to Marquette University at Valley Fields.

Detroit (3-5) was also wrapping up a five-game road trip. The Titans concluded the trip with a 2-3 record.

Seniors Annie Mendoza and Tessa Keuler each had a goal and an assist to lead the Detroit offense. Mendoza had a career-high five ground balls and also had one draw control and one caused turnover.

Marquette (4-5) opened the game with consecutive goals in the first four minutes of the game to lead 2-0. Detroit came right back as Keuler found the back of the net at the 25:46 mark and freshman Jordyn Beam tied the game, 2-2, five minutes later off a feed from Mendoza.

The Golden Eagles would score five of the final six goals in the first half with Mendoza tallying her 13th of the season just before the break to cut the MU lead to 7-3.

Detroit scored the first goal of the second half as junior Kylie Birney found the back of the net for her team-leading 16th of the year just 2:04 after halftime. Sophomore Kelsi Pritchard also scored for the Titans.

Senior goalkeeper Lexie McCormick notched her sixth 10-save game of the season double-digit save game of the season, totaling 10 saves for the Titans. She made five stops in each half. Freshman Lauren Webley had four ground balls and senior defender Taylor Marshall tallied three caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Marquette finished the game with a 28-18 shot advantage. The Titans were 17-of-23 on clear attempts and finished with 15 ground balls.
