DETROIT (2/11/2016) -- More than 1,600 exuberant fans were on hand Thursday morning for the inaugural Field Trip Day at Calihan Hall, but the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team fell 65-51 to visiting UIC.

More than 1,200 of the fans were students from 15 local area schools, from elementary to high schools. It formed the largest women's basketball crowd of the season at 1,623. The attendance was the largest since Nov. 16, 2013, when 2,156 fans watched the Titans host Michigan at Calihan Hall.

With the loss, Detroit dropped to 7-5 in Horizon League and 11-12 overall. The Titans led at halftime, 31-28, but scored just 20 points in the second half.

Rosanna Reynolds led the Titans with 18 points and nine rebounds, while dishing out four assists. She scored 12 points in the first half, including hitting a jumper just inside the 3-point line just before the halftime buzzer. The defending Horizon League Player of the Week, Brianne Cohen, notched her 16th double figure scoring game of the year, tallying 15 points for the Titans.

The Titans shot 42 percent in the first half on 12-of-28 shooting, but went cold in the closing 20 minutes, hitting just 6-of-23 shots. For the game, Detroit finished at 36 percent shooting. It was just the third time in Horizon League play that Detroit has failed to shoot 40 percent or better for the game.

Detroit came out of the gate playing well, scoring 19 points in the first quarter. The Titans led 13-8 late in the first quarter following a 3-pointer by Brittney Jackson. After a UIC trey, Detroit scored four-straight points as Cohen connected on a jumper before Haleigh Ristovski convered on a lay-up to put Detroit up 17-11 with 59 seconds left in the stanza.

The Flames followed with four-straight points, but Reynolds was fouled on a 3-point shot with less than a second remaining and converted on 2-of-3 free throw attempts to put the Titans up four points, 19-15, after one quarter.

Detroit led by as many as six in the second quarter. Nicole Urbanick made her only 3-pointer of the game to put Detroit up 24-19 with 7:53 left in the frame and she followed by hitting 1-of-2 free throws after being fouled on a shot. UIC would come back to take a 26-25 advantage, but UDM scored six of the final eight points of the half, as Reynolds tallied all six, finishing 3-for-4 from the field in the final 2:11 of the half.

There were three lead changes in the third quarter. Detroit gained a 35-32 lead after Cohen's make with 5:53 left in the stanza, but UIC scored 11 of the final 15 points in the third. Detroit cut the Flames' lead to two points three different times in the fourth quarter, the last when Jackson nailed a 3-pointer to make it 48-46 with 7:04 remaining. The Titans couldn't find the bottom of the nets down the stretch, however, hitting just one shot in the final 5:29 of the contest.

Detroit made 4-of-15 triple attempts, making 1-of-9 in the second half. The Titans went 11-of-17 from the free throw line. UIC held the rebound advantage, 41-33.
