Cheerleading Tryout Form (Sept. 7)  |  Detroit Mercy Tryout Letter
 
DETROIT (8/14/16) – Former Titan cheerleader, captain and assistant coach Jenn Muszynski will become the new head coach of the University of Detroit Mercy cheerleading team, it was announced Friday by Director of Athletic Marketing and Promotions Jeremiah Hergott.
 
"We are pleased to bring Jenn back to the Detroit Mercy Cheer Program," said Hergott. "Her experience as both a cheerleader and an assistant coach with the program makes her an asset to understanding the betterment of our student-athletes. Coach Muszynski also has exceptional coaching experience that will add to our game day atmosphere in Calihan Hall."
 
Muszynski brings more than 15 years of cheerleading experience back to her alma mater. She cheered for the Titans from 2004-09, including three years as a captain, and served as an assistant coach from 2010-13 at Detroit Mercy.
 
Away of the Titans cheer program, Muszynski served as an assistant cheer coach for Roseville High School from 2010-11, Chippewa Valley High School from 2011-13 and most recently at Lakeview High School since 2013. She was named MAC Gold Competitive Cheer Coach of the Year with Lakeview in 2015-16.
 
With each program, she has been responsible for running the programs, creating material and teaching proper technique, safety and skills.
 
"I am very excited to return to Detroit Mercy," said Muszynski. "I cannot wait to get started and help the program grow and reach new heights."
 
One of Muszynski's first objectives will to meet with current cheerleading student-athletes on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. in Calihan Hall.
 
Following Coach Muszynski's meeting with the returning squad members, open tryouts will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m. in Calihan Hall. All interested parties must fill out and bring the information sheet atop this page.

Interested cheerleaders must have proof of a completed physical within the past year and also must fill out Sickle Cell Testing Waiver form as well as the UDM Walk-On Agreement, listed above, prior to coming to the tryout.
