TOLEDO, Ohio (9/4/16) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team closed out its four-game road trip with a 1-0 loss at the University of Toledo on Sunday afternoon from Scott Park.
The Titans pushed the pace with nine shots and earned eight corner kicks, but were unable to find the back of the net as the host Rockets earned a one-goal advantage on a Detroit Mercy own goal in the 81
st minute.
Detroit Mercy played strong in the second half, out-shooting Toledo 6-4 and holding a 7-3 edge in corners. It was the Rockets, however, who broke through with the Titans falling victim to an own goal on a crossing pass in the final stages of the match.

Kristen Tobin led Detroit Mercy with three shots, followed by junior
Phylisha Drayton with a pair of shots.
Molly Kane,
Suzie Redick,
Mary LeAnnais and
Carly Fiorido each added a shot in the defeat.
Junior
Marina Manzo got the start in net and was tagged with the loss after allowing the lone goal on two saves in a full 90 minutes of action.
With the defeat, Detroit Mercy falls to 1-4 on the season. Meanwhile, Toledo improves to 2-3 with the win.
The Titans return to action at home from Titan Field on Thursday, Sept. 8 against Northwood. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m. and will broadcast live on ESPN3.
