DETROIT (9/7/2016) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team will open Horizon League play during the New Year's holiday weekend as the conference released its full season schedule on Wednesday.
Detroit Mercy begins the HL grind at home against Northern Kentucky on Dec. 29 and then hosts Wright State on Dec. 31. Both of those games will be doubleheaders with the women's basketball team also in action on those dates.
A three-game road trip is up next for the Titans as they visit UIC on Jan. 6, defending regular season champion and NIT runner-up Valparaiso on Jan. 8 and Metro Series-rival Oakland on Jan. 13.
The red, white and blue will come home for a game on Jan. 16, MLK Day, with the Titans entertaining Youngstown State in another doubleheader with the women's team.
The Titans close out January with road games at Wright State (Jan. 20) and at Northern Kentucky (Jan. 22) and home contests versus Milwaukee (Jan. 27) and Green Bay (Jan. 29).
February starts with two road games in the Buckeye State as Detroit Mercy visits Cleveland State (Feb. 2) and Youngstown State (Feb. 4).
A four-game homestand awaits the Titans after that as the Metro Series comes to Dick Vitale Court and Calihan Hall on Feb. 10. UIC is in the building the following week on Feb. 17 with Valparaiso (Feb. 19) and Cleveland State (Feb. 21) closing out three opponents in a five-day span.
The regular season schedule will then end with the Titans traveling to Wisconsin to play at Milwaukee (Feb. 24) and at Green Bay (Feb. 26).
Motor City Madness will be back in Detroit for the second-straight year as the men's and women's tournament will both be held at Joe Louis Arena from March 3-7.
