Titans Drop Nail-Biter At Cleveland State

CLEVELAND (10/14/2017) -- Senior Rachel DeLuca and freshman Kelli Doyle netted goals, but a second-half comeback by Cleveland State ended in overtime as the Titans fell, 3-2, on Saturday night.

Detroit Mercy (3-11-1, 0-6-0 HL) led 2-0 with goals early in each half. DeLuca gave the Titans a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute as a free kick came into her possession and she headed it in just outside the box. The lead grew to 2-0 in the 58th minute off a corner kick as Doyle eventually controlled the ball and put one past the keeper.

The Vikings (8-7-0, 4-2-0 HL) then scored two goals in a three-minute span in the second period and found the back of the net in overtime for the win.

Cleveland State outshot Detroit Mercy, 14-7, and had a 7-3 edge in corner kicks and junior Marina Manzo tallied five saves in the contest.
