DETROIT (11/25/17) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team used an attacking, ferocious defense to force 36 turnovers with a school record 25 steals as the Titans demolished the Siena Heights Saints, 131-69, on Saturday at Calihan Hall.

The 131 points are the fourth most in school history and the most since tallying a school record 135 against CCNY in 1979. The 62-point victory was also the biggest since defeating Oakland by 68 points, 113-45 on Dec. 6, 1976.

The Titans 25 steals was the most in school history, breaking the mark of 24 the team had against Buffalo on Jan 7, 1978, while the 17, 3-pointers the team connected on was one shy of the school record 18 against Milwaukee on Feb. 26, 2000.

Freshman
Jermaine Jackson Jr., nearly had the first Titan triple-double since 1977 finishing with 16 points, a season-high 13 assists and nine steals. Redshirt junior
Kameron Chatman posted a game-high 23 points - tying his career high -Â with a team-high nine rebounds and sophomore
Corey Allen tallied 22 points hitting 9-of-10 from the field.

Detroit Mercy (4-2) shot 59.3 percent (51-of-86) for the game and 60.7 percent (17-of-28) from the outside, while holding Siena Heights (3-3) to 33.3 percent shooting and 3-of-15 from behind the arc.

Senior
Jaleel Hogan posted 11 points, three assists and two rebounds. Junior
Josh McFolley had 15 points, five assists, four rebounds and tied his career high with five steals and senior
DeShawndre Black netted a season-best 14 points and five helpers.

The Titans trailed 2-0, but then scored seven-straight points to take a lead they would never give back. Detroit Mercy began to build a double-digit lead midway through the first half and led at the break by 28, 55-27.

Detroit Mercy never took its foot off the gas and extended its advantage all the way to the 60's and a 62-point win at the end. Â

The red, white and blue will now head back on the road traveling to Fort Wayne on Tuesday, Nov. 28.Â

- The Titans have now won both regular season meetings against Siena Heights
- Detroit Mercy is now 86-22 in its last 108 home games against non-league schools
- The three other highest scoring games in school history was 135 vs. CCNY on Feb. 10, 1979, 133 vs. Iowa Wesleyan in 1977 and 132 vs. CCNY in 1978
- The 36 assists in the game was the most since posting a school record 45 against Canisius on Feb. 18, 1978
- The 51 field goals are the most since putting in 59 against CCNY on Feb. 10, 1979
- Detroit Mercy came into the game second in the Horizon League and 37th in the nation in scoring offense at 88.6 points per game
- It was the third time this season the Titans have reached 100 points
- The last player to have at least nine steals in a game was when Jerry Davis set a school record with 10 against John Carroll on Dec. 10, 1980
- The 13 assists by Jackson Jr. is the most since Feb. 10, 2000, when Rashad Phillips had 14 at Butler
- Hogan is now just three points away from 1,000, which would be the 41st Titan in school history to reach that feat
- The last player with a triple-double was Terry Tyler on Dec. 27, 1977, as he had 20 points, 23 rebounds and 12 blocks against Eastern Michigan.
- Chatman reached 20 points for the third time this season and was one rebound shy of his second career double-double
- Allen recorded his 11th career 20-point game
- Black's career high was 15 points in a home win against Green Bay last season
- McFolley's five steals was the fourth time in his career he has registered at five thefts
- Jack Ballantyne had a season-high nine points
