LOS ANGELES (12/3/2017) – The Titans were even with the Bruins early on, but a run midway through the first half had the red, white and blue in an uphill battle as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team was defeated, 106-73, on the road at RV/#25 UCLA on Sunday night.

Kameron Chatman led the way with 18 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore
Corey Allen tallied 15 points with three rebounds and three assists and freshman
Jermaine Jackson Jr. had 14 points and three helpers.
The game was tied at 13-13 all at the 13:33 mark of the first when UCLA (7-1) took the lead on a 23-3 run over the next five minutes.
Detroit Mercy (4-4) shot 43.1 percent for the game with nine triples, but the Bruins were hot connecting on 52.8 percent and 11, 3-pointers.
The Titans will now return home to face Toledo on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. The game is the start of a stretch where Detroit Mercy will be at home for nine of its next 11 games, including eight in historic Calihan Hall and one game against Michigan at Little Caesars Arena.
First Half:
- After UCLA jumped out to a 5-0 lead, the Titans reeled off seven straight to take a 7-5 lead as Allen drilled a contested jumper, Jackson Jr. connected from deep and Hogan powered one in underneath.
- The game was tied at 13-13 before the Bruins surged ahead thanks to a 14-0 run with 11:53 remaining in the half.
- The Titans cut into UCLA's lead with a 6-0 run and held the Bruins without a field goal for nearly four minutes during an 11-3 run late in the half, bringing Detroit Mercy within 11 at 44-33.
- The Bruins entered the break with a 52-35 lead after closing the half on an 8-2 run.
- Allen led the Titans with nine points after going 4-of-6 from the field in the half.
- UCLA connected on seven three-pointers in the half and went 13-of-15 at the charity stripe.
Second Half:
- UCLA pulled away early in the second frame with a 20-6 run over the first five minutes, taking a 72-41 lead with 15:02 remaining.
- The Bruins continued their hot shooting throughout the frame, building the lead up to 37 at 99-62 with 4:15 left in regulation.
- Detroit Mercy outscored UCLA 11-7 over the final minutes with Jackson Jr. and Cole Long connecting from deep and Chatman and Allen pouring in jumpers.
- Chatman scored 12 of his 18 points in the second stanza, with a pair of triples and a perfect 4-for-4 mark from the line.
- Jackson Jr. was 3-for-5 from the field in the second, including a 2-for-4 clip from beyond the three-point line.
Game Notes:
- This was just the second career meeting between the two schools and the first since Detroit Mercy's 1999 NCAA Tournament win over No. 15 UCLA
- Detroit Mercy is 20-130 all-time against ranked teams, including dropping its last 26 games against top-25 squads
- The Titans are 7-10 all-time against current members of the Pac-12, but have dropped five straight to the league
- Detroit Mercy has scored at least 71 points in all eight games
- McFolley has recorded a steal in 54 of his 69 career games, including 23 multi-steal contests
- Detroit Mercy came into the game seventh in the nation in scoring offense at 93.7 points per game
- Allen has now been in double figures in all eight games and 11 straight dating back to last year
- Chatman has led the Titans in scoring five times this season and has scored in double digits seven times
- Jackson Jr. tied his season-best with four triples in the contest and scored in double figures for the seventh time this season
- With his eight points, Hogan is now just eight away from catching Eli Holman's 1,024 for 37th in school history
