DETROIT (2/19/2017) -- Senior
Patrick Robinson Jr., tallied a career-high 14 points, but first-place Valparaiso had the offense going in the second half as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team fell, 83-63, on Sunday afternoon at Calihan Hall.
The loss means that the highest the Titans can finish in the Horizon League is seventh and that Detroit Mercy will play in the opening day of Motor City Madness in the Little Caesars Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship on March 3.

Robinson Jr. was 5-of-8 overall and 4-of-7 from behind the arc, while also posting a career-best five rebounds.Â
Junior
Jaleel Hogan tallied 12 points and had a team-high seven rebounds and freshman
Corey Allen ended with nine points, four boards and two assists.Â
Valparaiso (22-6, 12-3 HL) took an early lead from the start scoring the game's first six points. The Crusaders also led by six at 12-6 and were leading 17-12 with 13:02 remaining when the Titans stormed back to take the lead.
Robinson Jr. started the Detroit Mercy (6-21, 4-11 HL) charge with a 3-pointer and after a Valpo free throw, Hogan came back to hit two from the charity stripe to make it 18-17 at the 10:11 mark. After a Valpo miss, Hogan got loose inside for a score and the Titans were in front, 19-18 with less than 10 minutes to play in the opening frame.
Valparaiso was able to thwart off the Titans and reclaimed the lead, but Detroit Mercy was within two on a few occasions, the latest at 31-29, with 2:52 left before going into the half down 37-29.
The Titans found themselves down by just nine, 42-33, early in the second period, but the Crusaders went on a 14-3 run after that to break the game open.
Sophomore
Josh McFolley finished with eight points, four rebounds and a team-high three assists. Freshmen
Cole Long and
Malik Eichler each had five points and three caroms and sophomore
Gerald Blackshear Jr., recorded four points and four rebounds.Â
The last regular season home game is up next for the Titans as Detroit Mercy hosts Cleveland State on Tuesday at 7 p.m. It will be Senior Day with the Titans honoring

Patrick Robinson Jr., and
Jarod Williams prior to the start of the contest.
