CLEVELAND, Ohio (2/23/2017) -- Junior forward Brianne Cohen scored a team-high 19 points, but the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team dropped a 75-50 road contest at Cleveland State on Thursday. With the loss, Detroit Mercy drops to 11-6 in Horizon League play.

Cohen inched closer to the 1,000 point plateau in her career and with her 19 points on Thursday is just 11 points shy of the milestone. She sank 8-of-10 shots on the night for the Titans. Senior Haleigh Ristovski moved into fourth place in career rebounding in the game, grabbing eight rebounds and surpassing former Titan standout Cassandra Pack with 829 career boards.

The Titans scored the first four points of the game on a Reynolds jumper and Cohen bucket in the paint. The Vikings used a 13-2 run to take a 13-6 lead, but Detroit Mercy had a run of its own to end the stanza, as a 3-point play by Mitchell was followed by a Lola Ristovski 3-pointer from the corner. The 6-0 run cut the Vikings lead to 13-12. CSU would have an 18-14 advantage after the first 10 minutes of play.

Detroit Mercy pulled to within three points, 23-20, but the Vikings used a 15-1 run to take a 38-21 lead over the Titans late in the second quarter. Anja Marinkovic scored five points in the final 1:24 of the half with Detroit Mercy trailing at the break, 40-26. Cohen led the Titans with seven points at the halftime break.

The Titans scored eight points in the first 2:27 of the third quarter, with six of those points coming from Cohen and another bucket by Haleigh Ristovski. The run cut the Vikings lead to 12, 46-34, but Detroit Mercy's shots didn't fall in the next few minutes of the quarter and CSU went up 55-35 late in the third quarter. Marinkovic hit her second 3-pointer of the game in the closing seconds of the third, but Detroit Mercy trailed after three, 59-40.

Freshman Zoey Oatis opened the fourth with a strong move to the hole and finished with a lay-up and just minutes later intercepted a cross-court pass and finished on the fast break. Cohen followed with a lay-up as Detroit Mercy opened the fourth on a 6-3 run, but it would be as close as the Titans would get in the game.

The Titans shot 33.3 percent (19-for-57) from the floor in the game, including 4-for-28 from beyond the arc. The Titans recorded six blocks in the contest.

In addition to her 19 points, Cohen had two blocks. Haleigh Ristovski also had two blocks. Marinkovic finished the game with eight points for the Titans.
