The Dukes answered with a goal at the 3:33 mark, but with just under a minute left, Wandelt was fouled and that gave her a free position attempt, which she connected on to make it 11-10. It was a slow start on offense for Detroit Mercy as Duquesne took a 2-0 lead nearly seven minutes into the contest.Â
The Titans then got it going scoring five in a row over the next 15 minutes of action. Wandelt started the charge with a free position goal and two minutes later, Kinmond put one it to knot it at 2-2. It wasn't long after that – just 1:03 later - that the Titans took the lead on a goal by Wandelt.
Nearly 10 minutes went by before either team scored, but that was the red, white and blue as Kinmond fed Girardi and she beat the keeper with 9:45 left in the period. Girardi wasn't done as Pritchard located her just two minutes later and she did the rest for a 5-2 advantage and the Titans led at the break, 5-3.
Duquesne started to mount a comeback with two goals early in the second, but Wandelt stopped that spurt with a goal at the 23:46 mark to make it 6-4. The teams traded goals as Wandelt struck again off a pass from Kinmond with 21:42 left and the Titans led 7-5.
Duquesne then ran off three-straight scores to take the lead, but Pritchard found Wandelt and she buried one between the pipes to tie it at 8-8 with 11:27 left.
The Titans will return to action on Friday, March 10, as they host Cincinnati on Titan Field. The game will start at 4 p.m., and it will be broadcast live on ESPN3.Â
