DETROIT (7/31/2017) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer program and head coach Nicholas Deren '99 has announced the addition of Dalton Amez (Macomb, Mich. / Chippewa Valley HS / Northwood University) for the 2017 season. He'll join the Titans for the start of fall practice next week.

Amez is a transfer from Northwood University, where he was a starter for three seasons for the Timberwolves. He was twice named to the GLIAC All-Tournament Team, helping lead Northwood to two-straight tournament championships and a 31-6-2 record across 2015 and 2016.

"Dalton brings experience and a sense of calmness to the middle of the midfield," Deren said of Amez. "I was fortunate to coach him with my 2012 ODP National Championship Team and he got the game-winning goal. He will be an immediate impact player for us in the line-up. I have known Dalton and his father since he was 10 years old and I am truly excited to have the opportunity to work with him again."

The 5-foot-9 midfielder started 50 of 51 games in three seasons with Northwood, tallying four points on one goal and two assists, while posting 79 total shots, including 35 in his final season in 2015. Amez logged over 4,300 total minutes for the Timberwolves, with the squad going 17-2-1 in 2015.

Amez is a 2013 graduate of Chippewa Valley High School, where he was an All-Conference player and team captain for the Big Reds.

Detroit Mercy opens its 31st season of men's soccer next week with the first official day of practice. The Titans are bringing back most of their squad as well as several new faces for the 2017 campaign. It's the eighth full season with Deren at the helm of the program.
