HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (10/13/2018) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team found the back of the net twice in the second half Saturday night, but fell to Horizon League foe Northern Kentucky on the road, 6-2. NKU was incredibly efficient on the night, scoring on six of its eight shots on goal.

Detroit Mercy junior Dylan Fillwock scored his first goal as a Titan in the 67th minute and junior forward Jake Reitzloff followed with his first goal of the season in the 73rd minute. Reitzloff's goal was his first collegiate goal. Juniors Max Becker and Aleks Vushaj each received assists on the goals, respectively.

The Norse went up early in the match, scoring in the second minute of play as Alex Grieve found the back of the net off a feed from the Horizon League goals and points leader, Alex Willis. Northern Kentucky added another goal midway through the half on a long shot from outside of the box. NKU's third goal of the first half came on a penalty kick with Willis scoring in the 32nd minute.

Detroit Mercy had its opportunities in the first half, including a couple off freshman Ryan Halloran's long throw-ins. The Titans got two shots off of one Halloran throw-in in the 12th minute with both shots being blocked. Halloran had a chance of his own on the backend of a long cross, but his volley went wide of the post. The Titans had another look just before the halftime whistle with Becker taking a long free kick, but his shot on goal was secured.

Northern Kentucky scored the first goal of the second half in the 66th minute to go up 4-0, but Fillwock got the Titans on the scoreboard just one minute later, firing a shot from outside of the box that went past the keeper and deflected off the post and into the net.

After the Norse went ahead 5-1, Reitzloff again answered for the Titans, scoring on a low shot in the box that went to the far post after a cross into the box from Vushaj. The Norse would score the match's eighth goal in the 76th minute to close out the scoring in the contest.

Detroit Mercy was edged in the shot count, 15-12. The Titans were called for a season-high six offsides, but also had the advantage in corner kicks, 6-2.

Becker assisted on both goals for the Titans. Junior defenders Garret Weaver and Justin Schueneman each had two shots for the red, white and blue.
