COLUMBUS, Ohio (2/16/2018) -- Midfielder Kaitlyn Wandelt scored four goals for the University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team Friday evening, but the Titans fell to host Ohio State from the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, 20-5.

The Titans (0-2) started off the game strong, with junior goalkeeper Allison McDonough turning away several Ohio State shots and Wandelt scoring the game's first goal five minutes into the contest to give Detroit Mercy a 1-0 lead.

McDonough had a stellar game in-between the pipes for Detroit Mercy, turning away nine shots in the first half and making 13 saves overall. She added four ground balls and two caused turnovers for the Titans.

Freshman midfielder Meredith Moore scored just before the halftime break for the Titans off a feed from sophomore Tegan McManus, who notched her first collegiate point with the assist. At the halftime break, Ohio State had a 10-2 lead over the Titans.

Wandelt, who missed the majority of last season due to an injury, scored all three goals after halftime for the Titans. She scored two in a span of six minutes midway through the half to notch a hat trick. Her fourth goal of the contest came with just under 3 minutes left on the game clock.

Junior attacker Lexie Kinmond and senior attacker Jordyn Beam each added assists in the game. McDonough had a team-best four ground balls, while junior classmate Morgan Girardi added three ground balls. Girardi also had two of the five draw controls in the game.

Detroit Mercy was out-shot in the contest, 42-17. The Titans were 14-of-19 on clear attempts and caused six turnovers in the game, with OSU committing 12 turnovers overall. The red, white and blue were whistled for 20 fouls, while OSU was called for 15 during the game.
