MILWAUKEE (2/23/2018) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team fell on the road Friday night at host Milwaukee, dropping a 90-45 contest from the
Klotsche Center.
Sophomore forward
Ashley Miller posted a career-high 10 points, adding five rebounds and two blocks. Senior forward
Brianne Cohen tallied a team-high 12 points, sinking two of the six Titan 3-pointers in the game.
Sophomore guard
Anja Marinkovic scored eight points in the first quarter -- hitting two triples -- as Detroit Mercy trailed by just four after the opening stanza, 21-17.
Milwaukee used a second quarter run, however, to take a 47-27 halftime lead. Cohen had eight points at the halftime break, with Miller adding six points on 3-of-5 shooting in the opening 20 minutes.
The Panthers maintained control in the third quarter, using another run to take a big lead after three quarters.
Detroit Mercy shot 28.7 percent in the contest (19-of-67), hitting 6-of-17 shots from outside (35 percent). The Titans were issued just five foul shots in the game, going 1-of-5. The red, white and blue were out-rebounded in the game, 56-32.
The Titans, who lead the Horizon League in blocks, tallied six more in the contest with five different players recording swats. Cohen and junior guard
Brittney Jackson each tallied two steals. Jackson also had three assists, while senior
Nicole Urbanick had a team-best seven boards.
