NORTHVILLE, Mich. (9/9/18) -- University of Detroit Mercy women's cross country redshirt freshman
Claire Kendell led the way for the Titans, claiming fifth place at the Running Fit-Detroit Mercy Titans Invitational, 32nd Annual on Saturday afternoon at Cass Benton Park in Northville.
On a day perfectly fit for running, Kendell turned in a new personal record of 18:15 in only her second collegiate race, after redshirting last season due to illness.
Three more runners finished in the top 25 for the Titans. First, it was senior
Veronica Towianski who crossed the line with a time of 19:26 for the red white and blue. Following closely behind her was junior
Kayla Hughes who finished 22nd with a mark of 19:47 and
Victoria Ostrander in 25th place with a time of 19:52.
After spending last season competing in just track and field,
Rebecca Measel made the transition to cross country this year and in her collegiate debut, she took 34th at 20:31.

Sarah DeDolph competed in the Running Fit-Detroit Mercy Titans Invitational for the second time in her three year career, crossing the finish line at the 21:03 mark.
The Titans placed fourth with 87 points, trailing Oakland, Bucknell and Albion College.
