DETROIT (11/1/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team honored its three seniors with a high-intensity effort on defense and some great scoring opportunities on offense, but the game was unkind as the Titans fell, 2-0, to NKU on Friday night.
The game marked the last for the three-member senior class inÂ
Casey Couturier,Â
Amanda Emke andÂ
Megan Pace, who were all honored prior to the start of the contest.
Detroit Mercy (2-13-2, 0-8-1 HL) and NKU (8-8-0, 5-4-0 HL) were even early on as the defense on both sides was dictating play. The Norse eventually scored in the 82nd minute and added a second off a penalty kick in the 83rd minute.
The Titans outshot NKU, 10-3, in the second half with five of those shots on net, but were just not able to beat the keeper as their season came to an end.
Sophomore
Cece Muskovac made one save and the Titan backline came up with two saves off blocked shots to keep the game close. Sophomore
Hailey Wentzloff led the team with three shots and junior
