Antoine Davis poured in a game-high 30 points, but the Titans could not get on track offensively as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team fell, 81-62, to Louisiana Lafayette in the final game of the MGM Resorts Main Event Middleweight Bracket.
The Titans leave Las Vegas with a win in two games, defeating UC Irvine in game one.
Davis ended with 30 points - his 10th career 30-point game - to go with four assists and three rebounds and was 12-of-12 at the free-throw line, while draining four 3-pointers. Junior
Dwayne Rose Jr. had a career-best eight points and four rebounds, while senior
Justin Miller and junior
Jordan Gorman had five points apiece.
Detroit Mercy (1-4) scored the first six points of the game and used a couple of first-half spurts to force a few ties, but Louisiana (4-2) opened up a double-digit lead in the first half and never let it slip to under eight in the second.
The red, white and blue will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 30, as Detroit Mercy heads to Ohio for a 1 p.m. tip.Â
First Period:
- The Titans scored the first six points, four off free throws and a drunk from Brandon
- Louisiana Lafayette then went on a 14-1 run to take a 14-7 lead at the 13:34 mark
- Detroit Mercy scored seven in a row that was started with a triple and a field goal from Davis and then a layup from sophomore Boe Nguidjol to make it 14-14 with 11:15 remaining
- A couple of free throws from Rose Jr. and Davis would later square it at 18-all
- The Ragin' Cajuns then went on a 13-2 spurt to jump out in front, 31-20, with a little over two minutes left
Second Period:
- Louisiana Lafayette went up by as many as 14, 41-27, but back-to-back 3-pointers by Davis and sophomore Willy Isiani cut it to eight, 41-33, with 17:36 left
- The Titans got it to under 10 on a layup from Rose Jr., and a free throw from sophomore Chris Brandon to make it 45-36, at the 14:34 mark
- Davis could also cut it to nine, 48-39, off a 3-pointer by Davis with 13:05 on the clock
- The Titans would then get to 10, 56-46, with 9:34 left as Rose Jr. grabbed a rebound and then scored on the offensive end
- Davis hit a few triples down the stretch

- The Titans are now 0-2 all-time against Louisiana Lafayette as they fell, 68-62, at the 2002 Cable Car Classic in California as Detroit Mercy fell, 68-62
- Detroit Mercy was 45-of-54 (83.3%) at the free-throw line in the two games
- Davis now has 146 career 3-pointers, one shy of 10th place in school history and Juwan Howard Jr.'s 147
- Davis now has 902 career points
- Rose's previous career-high in points was seven at Kansas as a member of Toledo in 2017
