DETROIT (8/19/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team out-shot DePaul in a preseason exhibition match on Sunday afternoon, playing the Blue Demons to a 1-1 draw from Wish Field in Chicago. Twenty-one (21) players earned playing time for the Titans in the first of two exhibition contests prior to the 2019 regular season.
The Titans had a 17-7 shot advantage in the match, including a 9-3 edge in shots on net. Detroit Mercy had a 9-2 margin in shots in the first half, taking a 1-0 lead on junior
Collin Cavanaugh's free kick goal from about 25 yards out. DePaul netted a goal in the second half and that was the scoring for the match as it ended 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Mohamad Miri each led the Titans with three shots each, while nine different Titans had shots on goal.
The red, white and blue return to the pitch next Sunday, visiting Northern Illinois in DeKalb, Ill. for a 3 p.m. ET exhibition contest. Detroit Mercy opens the 2019 regular season the following week, hosting Niagara for a Friday, Aug. 30 match from Titan Field at 2 p.m. ET. That game is set to be seen live via ESPN3.com and the WatchESPN Applications.
