SOUTH BEND, Ind. (9/21/2019) -- Sophomore
Dakota Hundley led four Titans in the top 60 as the University of Detroit Mercy men's cross country team posted a top-10 finish at the 40th Annual National Catholic Championships on Friday.
Detroit Mercy tallied 262 points for ninth place among the 21 teams competing on the 8k Burke Golf Course on the campus of Notre Dame.
In his Titan debut, Hundley claimed 39th in 27:15, while senior
James McCann was just behind him placing 45th in 27:20.
Senior
Adam Fraeyman crossed the finish line in 27:41 for 57th and junior
Thomas Mueller recorded a 27:48 and was in 60th place.
The red, white and blue will be back in action in two weeks when they run in the Greater Louisville Classic on Oct. 5.
Titan Finish
Titan Notes:
- Detroit Mercy has run a team in all 40 years of the event's existence
- The meet originated as a women's only race in 1987 with the men's race beginning in 1998
- Besides the team competing, Director of Track and Field & Cross Country Guy Murray '89 has been to 38 of the 40 races, missing the event in 1989 and 1994
- He was the Titans' top runner in 1988 with a 68th-place effort in 27:00
