SOUTH BEND, Ind. (9/20/2019) -- Senior
Sarah DeDolph led the University of Detroit Mercy women's cross country team as the Titans competed in one of their longest traditions in the 40th Annual National Catholic Championships on Friday.
The 5k race was held at the Burke Golf Course on the campus of Notre Dame.
DeDolph took 89th in the event with a time of 21:01, besting her time on the course last year by 33 seconds.
Freshman
Josie Arnold finished 117th in 22:06, while junior
Rebecca Measel cleared the finish line in 22:22 for 123rd.
As a team, Detroit Mercy was 19th, totaling 541 points.
The red, white and blue will be back in action in two weeks when they run in the Greater Louisville Classic on Oct. 5.

- Detroit Mercy has run a team in all 40 years of the event's existence
- The meet originated as a women's only race in 1987 with the men's race beginning in 1998
- The women's collegiate race started in 1984 with 14 teams and the Titans placed 10th with Lisa Salyers the highest harrier taking 39th in 20:12
- DeDolph's career time is 20:42 at last year's Canisius Alumni Classic
