DETROIT (12/3/2020) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball program and head coach
AnnMarie Gilbert has announced the signing of
Taylor Blunt (Morgantown, Pa. / The Peddie School [N.J.]), who inked her National Letter of Intent to play for the Titans during the fall signing period in November.
Blunt, a 5-foot-7 guard, surpassed the 1,000-point plateau during her junior season of high school and is a two-time First Team All-County and 2019-20 Mid-Atlantic Prep League All-League selection for Peddie School. She averaged 20 points per game in 2019-20, scoring more than 30 points in a game four times, including a career-high 39 points.
"We are excited to welcome Taylor Blunt to our Titan family," Gilbert said. "She is a bigger guard who can shoot the ball with efficiency and will bring much-needed competitiveness, leadership and toughness to our program. She has played on the Nike EYBL AAU circuit against high-level players and will be prepared to step in and play as a freshman. Taylor is a hard worker, a good student and an amazing young person."
Blunt is the first signing for the Titan women's basketball program in the 2020-21 signing class.
