Davis Earns Horizon League Player Of The Week

INDIANAPOLIS (2/1/2021) -- After leading the Titans to a sweep of the Penguins, University of Detroit Mercy junior Antoine Davis was named the Horizon League men's basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. He was also tabbed the HL Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.

It is the first time this season a Titan has won the weekly award and the fourth time the two-time All-HL guard has been awarded the accolade.

Davis averaged 24.5 points, 6.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals, while shooting 42.9% (18-of-42) from the field with nine 3-pointers. He was the game-high scorer in both games at Youngstown State, starting the weekend with 25 points, hitting five 3-pointers, seven assists, three rebounds and three steals in the opening 78-75 win and came back with 24 points, six boards and five helpers in the 77-72 victory finale. In that game, he connected on the go-ahead free throws with under a minute to go in the come-from-behind win.

He is now second in the league in scoring (20.9 points per game), free throw percentage (85.4) and 3-point field goals per game (3.1), fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (31.7%) and sixth in assists per game (4.3). He has also scored 1,809 points in his career to move to fourth in school history and 25th all-time in the Horizon League record book.

Davis and the Titans -- winners of five of the last six -- are scheduled to host Purdue Fort Wayne this weekend on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 5-6 from Calihan Hall.
