Titans Edged in Road Match at Wright State, 2-1

MASON, Ohio (2/17/2021) -- Freshman forward Erica Toupin scored her first collegiate goal to cut a 2-0 Wright State lead in half in Wednesday morning's road match, but the University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team was unable to complete the comeback in a 2-1 setback. The game was moved to 9:30 a.m. and played indoors due to the weather conditions.

The Titans (1-1, 1-1 Horizon League) out-shot Wright State in the match, 14-9, with Toupin recording a game-high five shots. She was credited with four shots on goal in the match, while classmate Tia Jokic had three shots, two on goal, for the red, white and blue.

Wright State (1-1, 1-1 HL) scored the game's first two goals, scoring in the 12th minute and then again in the 30th minute of the match to go ahead 2-0. Both teams had six shots in the opening 45 minutes of play.

The Titans out-shot Wright State in the second half, 8-3, with Toupin scoring in the 57th minute. Senior Olivia Elby had a shot on goal minutes later, but her attempt was saved. Detroit Mercy had four corner kicks in the second half and six overall in the match, but was unable to score the equalizing goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Marisa Silver made four saves in net for Detroit Mercy.

It was the 33rd meeting all-time in women's soccer between the two longtime Horizon League foes.
