Jonathan Kliewer was solid in goal making five saves but a late second half penalty kick goal proved to be the difference in the game.
The Titans (4-7-6) had one excellent scoring opportunity in the first half. In the 31st minute, Powder took a shot that deflected off an IUPUI (6-6-6) defender. As the ball was heading past goalkeeper Lucas Morefield another defender was able to clear the ball before it crossed the goal line.
In the second half, Detroit Mercy once again almost got on the board as freshman
Guershom Sylvain made a move inside the box and ripped a shot that beat Morefield but just missed scoring inside the far right post in the 59th minute.
The Jaguars finally got on the board off a penalty kick in the 71st minute to take a 1-0 lead.
In the 77th minute, Pierson had a great chance inside the box for the equalizer but his shot was turned aside by a diving save from Morefield. From there, the Titans could not get on the board as the Jags held on for the win.
