NORTHVILLE (9/10/22) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's cross country team saw three runners finish in the top-5 at the BSN Sports Detroit Mercy Titans Invitational from Cass Benton Park in Northville, Michigan.
Titans Dual With Vikings
The 36th BSN Sports Titans Invitational was a dual meet for the Titan women as they hosted Horizon League foe Cleveland State.
Allison Sherman led the Titans to victory with a time of 18:54.1 which is good for 11th on the all-time list for Titan women at Cass Benton Park. Sherman's time was also 10 seconds better than that of a year ago at the Titans Invitational.
Kaitlin Murray (20:11.1) and
Ayva Schmalz (20:49.3) rounded out the Titans in the top-five. Schmalz was able to take 24 seconds off of her time from her collegiate debut at the Michigan Open.
This was the third time in program history that Detroit Mercy has won the Titan Invitational and Sherman becomes the fourth Titan to ever win the event.
Other Top Finishes
Evie Wright took sixth with a time of 21:07.4 and
Josie Arnold earned 10th at 21:53.
Titan Men
The Titans' men's squad was also in action as they competed in an intrasquad scrimmage along with a few Titans alumni.

Following the win at the Titans Invitational, the red, white, and blue will head to South Bend, Indiana for the National Catholic Championships hosted by Notre Dame at Burke Memorial Golf Course Friday, Sept. 16 at 5 p.m. eastern.
