SOUTH BEND, Ind. (9/15/2023) -- Graduate senior
Allison Sherman was in the top 25 and four harriers posted career marks as the University of Detroit Mercy women's cross country team competed in Notre Dame's 43rd Annual National Catholic Championships on Friday.
The Titans claimed seventh with 201 points on the 5k Burke Golf Course.
Sherman took over 30 seconds off her previous best on the course as she was 22nd in 18:22, better than the 18:53 she clocked last year.
Sophomore
Ayva Schmalz posted a personal best by 14 seconds with a run of 19:25 for 60th, while freshman
Helana Napiorkowski improved her season 5k time to 19:46 for 69th.
Junior
Evie Wright was 73rd in 19:53, while freshman
Alaina Burns recorded a 22-second improvement from the season opener with a time of 20:18 for 84th. Junior
Nina Pizzo had a career-time of 20:40 for 91st and freshman
Abby Fifield claimed 107th in 21:09.
Notre Dame's women's collegiate race started in 1984 as the Titans have now run in the event in every season.
The Titans will be back in action in two weeks when they travel to Kentucky for the Live In The Lou Classic on Sept. 30.
