DETROIT (11/14/2024) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team has added to its early recruiting class with the signing of Ohio sensation Jekel Cotton.
Cotton has been a high riser and scorer at Lima Senior High School in Ohio and has been impressive on the AAU circuit.

- Led his team in scoring last year at 17.3 points per game to go with 7.0 rebounds until an injury ended his season
- Tallied 9.7 points as a sophomore and was named Second Team All-Conference
- A three-star and a top-10 recruit in Ohio by 247 Sports and was a Toledo top-64 player
- Helped his team to a share of the Toledo City Athletic League championship as a freshman
- Plays AAU with All-Ohio Select and was a standout at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam
Coach Monty on Cotton: "Cotton is a versatile forward wing that can score, handle the ball on the perimeter, and guard different positions. He has a great shot from the outside and brings an outstanding IQ and pedigree. He plays for one of the state's top high school programs under coach Quincy Simpson, and I look forward to coaching him at the next level."

The Titans are off to a 2-1 start and will next be in action on Saturday as the red, white and blue hosts Toledo on Dick Vitale Court in Calihan Hall, with tip-off set for 4:00 p.m.
