Makayla Jackson with 10 points as the Titans defeated Bellarmine 73-71 handing the Knights their first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon.

Jasmine Edwards just missed a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. Detroit Mercy (2-0) was active on the defensive end grabbing 16 steals with McQueen and Jackson having four each. The Titans also posted 29 points off 21 Bellarmine (3-1) turnovers.
A late fourth-quarter run proved to be the difference for Detroit Mercy (2-0). Trailing 60-57, the Titans went on a 10-4 run highlighted by three-pointers from McQueen and O'Brien. Hooper then connected on a clutch 3-ball to take the lead at 70-68. From there, UDM was able to close out the contest from the free-throw line, outscoring the Knights 28-22 overall in the frame.
The Titans jumped out to an early 12-4 lead and held on for a 21-19 lead after the first quarter.
UDM held the Knights to 12 points in the second quarter and got a buzzer-beater layup from Jackson to take a 35-31 lead at the half.
Bellarmine responded, holding the Titans to 10 points in the third to take a 47-45 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Titans travel to East Lansing, Mich. for a showdown against Michigan State on Wed., Nov. 20 at 6:30 p.m.
