Evie Wright tallied a career-best 6k best, and senior
Nina Pizzo joined her in the top 30 as the University of Detroit Mercy women's cross country team competed at the Horizon League Championship on Saturday.
The Titans tallied 191 points in the 6k for seventh place at the Shorewood Cross Country Course on the campus of Green Bay.
Wright placed 19th in 22:34, besting her previous best by 14 seconds and achieving her first-ever top-20 effort at the league meet. Her time was also good for 28th in school history.
Pizzo had her best league race as she was 29th in 23:11.
Junior
Claire Hunt posted a season-best 23:27 for 36th, while freshman
Sofia Figueroa ran a season-low 23:40 for 44th.
Freshman
Kirsten Koss took time off her 6k best to finish 69th in 24:02. Sophomore
Helana Napiorkowski earned 76th in 24:12 and sophomore
Alaina Burns hit a PR by two seconds in taking 84th in 24:17.
Detroit Mercy will now prepare for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships on Nov. 15, which will be held at Silvercreek Park in Norton, Ohio.
