Kirsten Koss led the Detroit Mercy women's cross country team at Friday's season opening Michigan Open as Team 41 kicked off their season running a 5k against regionally-ranked Michigan from Hudson Mills Metropark.
The native of Dearborn, Michigan, Koss closed her collegiate debut with a 25th-place finish and a time of 20:02.
Right behind Koss in 26th place was senior
Nina Pizzo, who had a time of 20:08, nearly two minutes faster than her time at the race last season and besting her collegiate personal record by two seconds from her 20:10 tally at Canisius last year.

Evie Wright was the next Titan in at 29th at 20:24. Freshman
Aubrey Mery crossed the line in 32nd place with a time of 20:55 and sophomore
Abby Fifield was right behind in 33rd with a time of 20:59, 12 seconds better then her race on the course last year.
The Titans will return to action at Notre Dame's National Catholic Championship on Friday, Sept. 20th.
