DETROIT (10/28/2025) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team will have its final test of the preseason as the Titans take the short trip across town to face Central State in the 1st Annual Horatio Williams Foundation Hoops & Culture Event.

The entire showcase is being held at the Wayne State University Fieldhouse, with the Titans tipping off at 5:00 p.m, and admission will be $20 for all four games.

The full schedule of the day includes:

• Grand Valley State vs. Wilberforce – 12:00 PM
• Wayne State vs. Talladega – 2:30 PM
• Detroit Mercy vs. Central State – 5:00 PM
• Eastern Michigan vs. Tuskegee – 7:30 PM

Detroit Mercy is coming off an 86-70 win over Grand Valley State in its first exhibition match-up last Friday at Calihan Hall. The Titans shot a blistering 52.6% from the field (30-of-57), hitting 13-of-25 from the outside, and outrebounding the Lakers, 51-36.

Sophomore TJ Nadeau had a game-high 17 points. Senior Orlando Lovejoy recorded 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists, while redshirt freshman Tyler Spratt tallied 13 points, three boards, two assists, and two blocks.

Detroit Mercy is looking for its first perfect mark in the preseason since 2014-15, when the red, white and blue defeated Siena Heights (84-49) and Marygrove (98-55).

Detroit Mercy and Central State have only met once before, with the Titans coming away with an 88-65 triumph in 2015.

The Titans will officially begin the 2025-26 season at UIC on Monday, Nov. 3.
