LOUISVILLE, Ky. (10/4/2025) -- Graduate senior
Nina Pizzo exploded to a top-20 finish and a top-10 time in school history as the University of Detroit Mercy women's cross country team concluded the 24th Annual Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday.
Detroit Mercy earned 12th with 458 points in the 6k race at EP "Tom" Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky, the first 6k race of the year for the red, white and blue.
On a hot day in Derby City, Pizzo just missed a top 10 placing 11th in a career-best 22:00, breaking her previous best by 25 seconds. The run was the sixth-best 6k tally in school history, and her 5k split of 18:26 would have been good enough for fifth at the event.
Senior
Claire Hunt was 56th in 23:08, while junior
Helana Napiorkowski claimed 73rd in 23:21.
Junior
Alaina Burns clocked 24:15 for 137th, and sophomore

The Titans will have one more test before the Horizon League Championship as UDM travels to upstate New York for the Canisius Alumni Classic on Oct. 18.
