Even though we created enough chances to earn all three points, I am incredibly proud of the guys for not breaking after giving up the first goal," said Head Coach
Nate Kopunek. "We ended the season with a road point against a quality conference opponent in Milwaukee."
"As a staff, we can't thank these seniors enough for everything they have given this program. They stuck with me when I took over and helped build a strong culture from day one that will benefit us for years to come."
In the 12th minute, Sommerfeld was taken down in the box, drawing a penalty kick. He stepped up and converted the ensuing PK to the low right side, giving Detroit Mercy (5-10-3, 2-5-2 HL) a 1-0 lead.
Milwaukee (4-6-8, 3-1-5 HL) responded with an equalizer in the 18th minute before Sylvain cashed in off a failed clear attempt off a cross from senior

UDM put five shots on goal and had three corner kick opportunities in the second half, but could not increase their lead. The Panthers finally broke through with a late qualifier in the 82nd minute, tying the game at 2-2 to salvage a league point.
