Kiefer Haffey announced the return of former guard and 2022-23 #HLWBB All-Freshman Team selection
Amaya Burch to the squad for the 2025-26 season.
"It is a great day for our Detroit Mercy women's basketball program to welcome
Amaya Burch back to Calihan Hall," said Haffey. "Amaya was part of a roster that helped elevate this program in her time here, and she has always been an energy giver, ultra-competitive, and has a proven track record in our league. Amaya has a knack for scoring the ball and hitting big shots. Our goal for this program is to create an environment that is as competitive as possible, and Amaya will contribute to that."
Career Highlights:
2023-24:
• Started in 32 games
• Led the team in 3-point baskets (28) and 3-pointers made per game (2.9).
• Reached double figures 10 times
• Dished out a career-best four assists vs IUPUI (2/29).
• Scored 12 consecutive third-quarter points finishing with 16 on 6-of-10 shooting, 2-for-4 from 3-point range, and 2-for-2 from the free throw line at PFW (2/18).
• Recorded first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 boards, going a perfect 3-for-3 from the charity stripe at WSU (2/2).
• Posted a season-high 20 points going 4-for-6 from 3-point range and 7-for-12 overall with three assists and a career-high three steals while just missing a double-double with nine boards, leading Detroit Mercy to a stunning win over #HLWBB leader Cleveland State, snapping a six-game skid to the Vikings (1/27).
2022-23:
• Saw action in 28 games, making 17 starts
• #HLWBB All-Freshman Team Selection
• Scored in double-figures 12 times while grabbing 10 boards or more in three games.
• Tied for second on the team with three double-doubles.
• Led the team in 3-point field goals (29), ranked third in rebounds per game (4.7).
• Recorded second consecutive double-double and third of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds at WSU (1/13).
• Posted second career double-double scoring a game-high 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting (3-of-7 from 3-point range) while grabbing a career-best 16 rebounds in the Titans' first #HLWBB win of the season over RMU (1/7).
