Late Run Catches Up With UDM At Robert Morris

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (2/25/2026) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team battled and fought all game long, but a second-half run was too much to get back as the Titans fell at Robert Morris, 73-62, on Wednesday night.

The loss ended UDM's four-game winning streak, but at 14-14 overall and 11-8 in the Horizon League, the Titans are still alive for a top-five finish and a home playoff game. The red, white and blue can finish as high as third and as low as seventh in the standings.

Senior Orlando Lovejoy had 19 points, four assists, and three rebounds, going 7-of-13 from the field. Sophomore TJ Nadeau posted 12 points and five rebounds, and sophomore Ryan Kalambay tallied 10 points, nine rebounds, two steals, and tied his career-high with five blocks.

The Titans were in front, 50-47, with 7:10 left when Robert Morris (20-10, 12-7 HL) went on an 18-4 spurt over the next four minutes for a 65-54 lead with 2:49 on the clock.

UDM would make it a six-point margin at 67-61 with 1:29 left as freshman Lance Stone drilled a three and Lovejoy made two at the charity stripe, but could not get any closer.

Senior Legend Geeter ended with nine points, six rebounds, and two assists. Stone had five points and two helpers, and junior Nate Johnson chipped in with two points and three boards.

Detroit Mercy shot 44.6% from the field, but made just 4-of-16 from the outside and was just 8-of-10 at the line.

The Titans led several times in the first half. Nadeau rang in a three, and it was 14-10. Later on, Stone and Kalambay had back-to-back baskets for an 18-12 lead.

Detroit Mercy had its largest advantage of nine, 22-13, at the 7:40 mark in the first, as Kalambay connected on two from the line and Lovejoy was able to attack the rim for a score.

UDM also led by nine at 24-15 off a Kalambay offensive rebound and putback, but the Colonials would come back to knot it at 26-26. Geeter then put the Titans in front as he caught a pass mid-air and laid it in with under 10 seconds left for a 28-26 score at the break.

The teams traded the lead several times in the second half, when UDM claimed that three-point cushion, 50-47, off a Lovejoy jumper with 7:10 remaining.

Detroit Mercy will now get ready for a huge regular-season finale as the Titans travel to #MetroSeries-rival Oakland on Saturday, knowing that a win would secure at least a top-five finish in the standings and a home playoff game.
