Seniors Shine on Senior Day Combing for 67 Points in Win Over Northern Kentucky

Titans Retired Mary Cicerone 's(Lillie) #20 Jersey at Halftime

DETROIT (2-28-26) The 2026 Detroit Mercy women's basketball senior class left it all out on the floor in their final game at Calihan Hall, combining for 67 points in the Titans'  70-67 win over Northern Kentucky in the #HLWBB regular season finale on Saturday afternoon. Graduate student Jasmine Edwards led the way, scoring a new Titan career-high 24 points on 8-for-13 shooting with six rebounds, followed by 18 points from graduate student Aaliyah McQueen on 4-for-6 shooting from long range.

Graduate student Kailee Davis was the final Titan in double figures with 12 points against her former team. Graduate student Nisea Burrel added seven points while senior Myonna Hooper chipped in five points. Senior Allison Basye also added one point, a steal, a block, and two boards against her former team.

Detroit Mercy (6-23, 4-26 HL) enters the 2026 #HLWBB Barbasol Championship as the No. 12 seed and will travel to No. 11 seed Milwaukee for a play-in game on Monday, March 2 at 8 p.m. ET. The winner will then travel to No. 1 seed Green Bay on Wednesday, March 3, at 8 p.m. ET.

Overall, the game was closely contested throughout. Neither Detroit Mercy nor Northern Kentucky (15-16, 12-8 HL) led by more than four points for the entire game. The best time the Titans had a chance to go up by five points was when Davis was on the line with just five seconds left and split a pair of free throws, putting UDM up four points, 70-66. NKU came down and hit a desperation 3-pointer before time expired to lose by a point.

With UDM trailing at 58-55 at the 5:36 mark in the fourth, Edwards hit a layup, followed by a 3-pointer from McQueen, giving UDM a 60-58 lead. After NKU hit a jumper and layup to move ahead by two points, McQueen hit another 3-ball followed by an Edwards' layup, putting UDM up for good at 65-62 with 3:23 to go.

NKU closed the gap to one point at 65-64 at the 1:20 mark, but Burrell's layup moved the Titans back up by three points, 67-64. Two huge offensive rebounds sealed the deal for the Titans. After the Norse cut it to one point again at 67-66 with 48 seconds left, Burrell missed a runner from the baseline, but grabbed her own rebound and was fouled. After she missed the first free throw, she missed the second, but Edwards crashed the glass and got the offensive rebound and was fouled. She calmly stepped up and sank both free throws, moving UDM 69-66 with three seconds left. After an NKU missed 3-pointer, Daivs' aforementioned split a pair of free throws sealed the deal.

In the first half, McQueen and Davis opened the game with back-to-back three-pointers, but both defenses were on point as NKU only held a 12-11 lead at the end of the frame.

Both teams scored 16 points each in the second quarter, with the Titans trailing by one point, 28-27, at the break.

Titans Retired Mary Cicerone (Lillie) #20 Jersey at Halftime and honored seniors Allison Basye, Kailee Davis, Jasmine Edwards, Myonna Hooper, Aaliyah McQueen, and Brendha Schwartz, for their hard work and dedication to the program before the game.
