MILWAUKEE (2/4/2026) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team shot over 50.0% for the third straight game as the Titans went into Milwaukee and took care of the Panthers, 76-63, on Wednesday evening.
The win stopped a seven-game slide to the Panthers (9-16, 5-9 HL) and put the Titans (10-12, 7-6 HL) over .500 in league play through 13 games for the first time since they were 7-6 in 2021-22.
Sophomore
TJ Nadeau led the way with 18 points. Senior
Orlando Lovejoy tallied 16 points and four rebounds, and senior
Legend Geeter posted six points, eight rebounds, five assists, and a season-high three steals.
The Titans never trailed and led by double digits for much of the second half, but Milwaukee was within six, 48-42, with 13:43 to go. That is when Nadeau knocked in a three, and junior
London Maiden got inside for a dunk and a 53-42 lead.
UDM was then up 57-50 with 9:20 remaining when it scored 13 in a row for total control on the hardwood. Maiden started it with a three-point play as he got inside for a basket and was fouled, hitting the free throw. The next time down the floor, he split a pair at the line, and an offensive rebound and putback by redshirt freshman
Tyler Spratt followed that.
Freshman
Lance Stone then drilled one from three, and after a steal by Geeter, Spratt rang in a triple of his own and was fouled, as his free throw and four-point play made it 70-50 with 5:47 left.
From there, the Titans would seal away the triumph.
Maiden ended with 10 points and four rebounds, while Spratt had 10 points and three caroms. Sophomore
Ryan Kalambay registered eight points and a team-high 10 rebounds, and Stone needed eight points with five assists.
The Titans shot 53.7% (29-of-54) from the field and 81.3% at the line (13-of-16). They also won the battle of the boards, 33-27, and came away with nine steals.
The Titans started the game with six-straight points as Nadeau connected on a couple of early shots.
UDM would open a nine-point lead at 24-15 as Geeter hit a three with 7:54 on the clock, but the Panthers went on a run and trimmed the margin to one, 28-27, with 3:17 remaining.
The red, white and blue answered with a 12-0 charge to end the first half. The charge started as Stone nailed a three-pointer and Lovejoy had a basket. The next time down the floor, Geeter got the offensive rebound, and Lovejoy went back inside for another layup and was fouled, hitting the free throw. Geeter then added a dunk, and right before the buzzer sounded, the Titans collected a defensive rebound and streaked down the court, with Spratt finishing it with a basket and a 40-27 advantage.
Detroit Mercy went ahead by 12, 46-34, off a Lovejoy bucket early in the second half, but Milwaukee then cut that to six before UDM started to pull away.
The Titans will now look to complete a weekend sweep when they play at Green Bay on Saturday, with opening tip scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (EST).
